솔 향 재 Solhyangjae | Located at the entrance of Eunpyeong Hanok Village in Seoul, “Solhyangjae” is a new space opened by Greenear, a Korean cultural experience brand. |
A Korean Cultural Atelier Embracing Nature
“Solhyangjae” means “the house filled with the scent of pine trees.”
It is a multi-purpose cultural space where traditional Korean arts and seasonal experiences come to life.
Greenear has previously hosted various seasonal programs like minhwa painting, traditional tea tasting, and Korean liquor workshops at hanoks and heritage houses in Seoul and Busan.
As more people joined our seasonal experiences, we began to dream of one thing:
“We need a space of our own to share Korean culture continuously.”

Finding the Solhyangjae: A One-Year Journey
We looked for a hanok that was spacious, peaceful, and comfortable for our guests—
but it was harder than expected. Hanoks in Seochon and Bukchon were either too small or beyond our budget.
We had to give up countless times—but never gave up on the idea of a hanok.

Then one day, we arrived in Eunpyeong Hanok Village. Backed by Bukhansan Mountain, this quiet neighborhood had everything we dreamed of: a beautifully preserved hanok with visible seokkarae (traditional rafters), serene views, and a large window opening up to the sky.
We knew instantly—this would be our home.

Transforming Solhyangjae
Solhyangjae was already a modernized hanok, but we wanted to finish the renovation before the next season.
We moved quickly, but carefully, with one principle:
“Let it feel like a real hanok.”
We used dark wooden tones for most furniture, maintained a warm and elegant atmosphere, and made sure that each corner of the space respected tradition and nature.
Every detail—from cups to seating—was custom-designed for our unique cultural programs.

Design Highlights of Solhyangjae
No Signs, Just Silence
You won’t see a flashy signboard. Instead, we hung a small traditional embroidered tag inspired by cheongsachorong (a traditional lantern). In a world full of signs, we chose emptiness to let Korean beauty speak for itself.

Nature All Around Elevated Seating for Performances
As you enter, you’ll find real pine trees and seasonal flowers throughout the space.
Even though many advised against real plants, we insisted—because we wanted you to smell the pine and feel nature with every step.

Elevated Seating for Performances
Our floor has slight steps to make performances visible from all seats. This design came from feedback after past concerts where rear seats couldn’t fully enjoy the show.

Open Backyard with Baby Pine Tree

Step into the backyard and look for a small baby pine tree.
It sprouted from a seed carried by the wind—just three steps away from its mother tree. That tiny life, growing quietly in the corner, now makes Solhyangjae even more special.

Solhyangjae currently operates reservation-only seasonal experiences and exclusive on-site programs.
Korean folk painting exhibition : Discover a collection of illustrated minhwa postcards created in collaboration with Korean artists.
“Letter from Hanok” Program : Choose a minhwa postcard that resonates with you. You may write a letter—or simply keep it as your own small artwork. If you choose to send it, we’ll mail it for you to anywhere in the world. Like the scent of pine drifting on the breeze, it may arrive slowly—but meaningfully.
Solhyang Joodam & Solhyang Dadam : Seasonal tasting programs with Korean traditional tea and alcohol, paired with beautiful local desserts. |

Solhyangjae will continue to present traditional Korean culture in a way that stimulates all five senses. Not just visual goods, but an immersive space where you can taste, hear, and feel the depth of Korea’s seasons, nature, and heritage.
Whether you’re a foreign traveler curious about Korean hanoks,
a local visitor hoping for a quiet moment of rest,
or a returning guest from past Greenear programs—
Solhyangjae will always be a warm place of pause and reflection.

For some, this may be your first touchpoint with Korean culture. For others, it may be a break from everyday life.
Either way, Solhyangjae exists as a place where nature, seasons, tradition, and sensory experiences harmonize. We invite you to step in—and stay a while.
