A Bookstore That Plays a Role Beyond a Bookstore

Guided by the founder's philosophy, "People make books, and books make people," this is a space where anyone can touch and read books. The act of continuously exploring and contemplating other worlds through reading, and expanding one's inner world, is a brilliant experience beyond measure.

Now, Kyobo Bookstore, playing a role beyond a mere bookstore, is being reborn as a complex cultural space where anyone can enjoy culture and art through the medium of books, a place where anyone can feel comfortable coming and want to stay.

It is a diverse space that, for someone, becomes their personal study in the city, a stationery store, or an LP shop.

Space to Stay

In 2002, the year the entire nation became Red Devils supporting the Republic of Korea, Kyobo Bookstore Busan Branch began in the Kyobo Life Insurance building in Jungang-dong. At the time of its opening, under the slogan "A Bookstore Without Missing Books," it aimed to introduce as many books as possible on gray metal shelves, holding about 100,000 different titles.

Then, in 2015, renovation work was carried out to create more space for customers to stay, resulting in the current space. Reading tables where you can sit and rest your mind anytime, and 70,000 titles of books that you

Kyobo Bookstore Cheonan Branch [천안] (심야서점음악회) 10월의 어느 멋진 밤

Cheonan has long been a major crossroads where the three southern provinces meet—a land where people and hearts gather, and a historic hub holding deep spirit and resonance. As the ground where the Gyeongbu and Honam railway lines divide, it is a city that has always embraced reunions more than farewells, layering countless stories and memories within the steps of those passing through.

Kyobo Book Centre Cheonan Branch stands upon that very path. Situated in Sinbu-dong—the city's core commercial district and gateway of transportation where Shinsegae Department Store, Cheonan Express Bus Terminal, and the Cheonan Station life zone intersect—countless people pass by and pause each day. This space, where daily lives and journeys, beginnings and returns continuously cross, transcends a simple bookstore to become a cultural library holding the city's collective memories.

Kyobo Bookstore Busan Branch operates with a multi-level structure, consisting of the first basement floor and the first floor above ground, surrounded by deep brown wooden bookshelves. As you enter the high-ceilinged first floor, the World Literature Collection series extends along the wall shelves from the entrance. Literature and art books fill the shelves, and through the large panoramic window, the outside world becomes a stunning frame: on rainy days, it's the bustling rainy street, and on clear days, it's the vibrant, bright sky.

Between the first floor and the basement level, there is a space like an indoor balcony. Many people sit there, overlooking the bookstore while reading or having conversations with loved ones.
