Park Jun-seong Traditional Liquor Educator & Beverage Content Planner
Introduction
Hello, I work at Geumpung Brewery in Ganghwa Island. I've enjoyed drinking makgeolli since I was young and became more interested in learning about it deeply. That curiosity eventually led me to start making it myself. I believe alcohol and food are very personal. Just because I like something doesn’t mean others have to like it too. I prefer a culture where people enjoy drinks freely and comfortably without pressure. You can think of me as a brewer, a drinker, and someone who connects people through alcohol.
Highlight

Completed Intermediate Makgeolli Program / Korean Traditional Liquor Interpreter Course
Completed Master Brewer, Master Liquor, and Brewery Owner courses at the Korea Gaya Liquor Research Institute
Completed Makgeolli Brewing Expert Course by Cultural Heritage Administration
Holds KISA Traditional Liquor Sommelier Certification (Intermediate & Advanced)
Wine Sommelier Level 1 & 2 (Korea Barista Association)
SCA Barista Certification
What to expect while doing this

Even though making makgeolli has become part of my daily work, I still learn and feel a lot from it. I continue to grow through running experience programs and meeting guests, and their feedback gives me motivation to do better. I believe this work is truly completed through human connection. I’m both excited and a little nervous to join as a traditional liquor instructor at Solhyangjae. I’ll meet you with the mindset that “the day we meet is a good day,” and I’ll do my best to create warm, memorable experiences together.
Interview
Q. What are some of your most memorable places and experiences in nature in Korea?

Nature always offers something new and amazing. One place I can’t forget is Cheonjeyeon in Jeju—it had this mysterious charm, as if a legend were hidden in its scenery. I often find myself speechless before nature and love those moments of simply looking and appreciating.
Q. What does nature mean to you?

To me, nature is mysterious, beautiful, and grand—but also a friend that brings comfort.
Q. What do you want people to take away from the experience and healing you provide?

I don’t think alcohol needs to be something grand. I hope it can be a quiet companion in your daily life—something you can turn to and say, “You did well today.” Personally, I love makgeolli, yakju, and natural wine. But in the end, I believe the best drink is the one that tastes good to you.
