Introduction 35a8565fa401d.jpg

Hello, I’m the head tea master at Mongjungsan Tea Garden, and for the past 22 years, I’ve been dedicated to preserving the taste, aroma, and trust behind our tea. Our tea garden is nestled in the foothills of Mongjungsan Mountain in Boseong, Jeollanam-do, where mountains, sea, and lakes come together. The area is even marked in the Daedongyeojido map completed by Kim Jeong-ho in 1861. Mongjungsan Tea Garden was the first in Korea to receive the USDA 100% Organic Certification and the EU Organic Certification. We’ve also held Korea’s traditional food quality certification since 2001, as well as the domestic organic produce and specialty product certifications since 2002.

What to expect while doing this

I take pride in knowing that our tea not only brings joy to the palate but also supports good health. Long before the word “organic” became familiar, we were already growing our tea in harmony with nature — and we continue to do so with confidence and integrity.

Interview

Q. Introduce the product you’re offering with Greenear.

Our green tea is hand-picked and thoroughly rinsed to remove dust and impurities. We follow the belief: “If one’s conscience is not clean, the crops cannot be clean either.” With that in mind, we grow all our tea leaves with 100% organic practices and a commitment to honesty. This care has led to outstanding quality. Our tea has won multiple awards — starting with the “Oscars of the food industry” in London in 2002, and more recently being selected as one of the Top Korean Teas of the Year in 2025.

At Solhyangjae, you can enjoy our Ho Hong Cha — a Korean black tea made from large, sun-kissed tea leaves, rich in beneficial properties. It features a light floral aroma and a gentle, sweet finish that lingers pleasantly. It’s perfect served cold during the day or warm with a spoon of honey on a chilly morning or evening — a tea that brings comfort any time of day.

Q.  What does nature mean to you?

I believe nature is not something we protect from a distance — we must live together with it.
There’s a forest within our tea fields that remains untouched by people. Many unseen lives breathe there, and I believe they all contribute to the natural ecosystem of our tea fields. Anyone who visits will surely feel the strength of nature for themselves.

Q. What do you want people to take away from the experience and healing you provide?

I’m delighted to meet so many tea lovers at Solhyangjae. I hope that with each sip, you’ll feel a pause from the rush of daily life — and a quiet moment to breathe together with nature.
