Introduction

Hello, I’m Ji-won Kwon, a person who drinks tea. Ever since I began drinking tea, I’ve found myself naturally drawn to history, tea ceremonies, literature, and meditation. While I now share tea through classes and programs, it’s always difficult to describe myself in one phrase. But if I could choose how I’d like to be remembered, I would simply say: “someone who drinks tea with others.” I hope to enjoy tea with many people, for a long time to come.

What to expect while doing this

I believe that drinking tea is one of the simplest and most gentle ways to take care of oneself in daily life. But for me, tea has become more than a routine — it is now a lifelong companion that helps me grow. The energy of nature infused in each cup, and the inspiration I gain through these tea moments, are what allow me to continue doing this work.

Interview

Q. What are some of your most memorable places and experiences in nature in Korea?

The mountain where my parents live in Miryang, Gyeongnam, is the closest and most meaningful piece of nature to me. This January, I planted tea seeds along the ridgeline. With buckets full of soil, I gently placed each seed into the soft ground. Living in the city, I rarely get to touch the earth — it was a powerful moment of connection with nature. Now that the seeds have sprouted and begun growing into young tea trees, I feel a quiet pride watching them stretch their branches.

Q.  What does nature mean to you?

Among everything that exists in this world, I believe nature is the most creative force. Whether I’m planning a tea gathering, creating content, writing, or simply resting — nature is an endless source of inspiration. It’s something I always wish to resemble.

Q. What do you want people to take away from the experience and healing you provide?

A single tea leaf carries the essence of the seasons — sunlight, wind, rain, and snow. To share a cup of tea with someone is to share the wisdom of nature. When people sit with me for tea, I hope they can feel nature through each sip. Especially our fragrant Korean green tea — though the leaves may look dry and still, after a few infusions, they bloom again like tender sprouts on a branch. Through that small transformation, I hope to share the idea of renewal — a gentle reminder to embrace the present moment, and the beauty of life’s constant cycle.
