What to expect while doing this
It is often said that music possesses the power of empathy and healing, but in reality, it can sometimes be a great burden and source of stress for the performer who has to convey it. Nevertheless, the sense of accomplishment when fulfilling that role is so profound and overwhelming that it cannot be expressed in words. That's why music is a bittersweet and arduous relationship of love and resentment for me. Sometimes, I take a break from music to go see nature or travel, but I always realize that the place I truly want to return to is music.
Interview
Q. What are some of your most memorable places and experiences in nature in Korea?
It's the sea. When I was young and living in Australia, I used to drive for over an hour to see the sea, and in Korea, I stayed close to nature by walking along the tidal flats. As time passed, I came to find the sea on my own, and whenever I stood before it, my heart felt at peace. Perhaps because I have so many memories of seeking out the sea whenever I was bored or frustrated, I think the sea will always remain a place I want to return to in my life.
Q. What does nature mean to you?
For me, nature is both a source of rest and something we must protect. I recently read Rachel Carson's book, . When we treat nature carelessly, the damage ultimately comes back to us. I believe that protecting nature is ultimately protecting ourselves. I try to always keep in mind the fact that we can breathe and live because of nature, and that we can exist because of nature.
Q. What do you want people to take away from the experience and healing you provide?

I wanted to bring happiness to others through music. Ironically, the more I made music with that in mind, the more happiness I felt myself. Music seems to be a special medium that allows both the listener and the performer to share emotions. If someone can feel even a moment of comfort and happiness through my music, I believe that in itself is truly meaningful.
