| Soju | In the summer of 2024, greenear spent time in Bukchon Hanok Village drinking distilled soju and blending our own liquor. we wanted to give people a refreshing drink on a hot summer day. |
A traditional soju cultivated by nature

During the Joseon Dynasty, soju was a luxury drink reserved for kings and great families. Over time, the common people began to make and drink soju as well, but distilled soju with a high alcohol content was a rare liquor found in Gyeonggi and the northern regions of Korea. Korean soju comes in two flavors: diluted soju, which is mass-produced by diluting anhydrous liquor. Distilled soju, which is made by distilling several times, is especially rare because it has a high alcohol content but is greatly reduced in volume.
Diluted soju is factory soju and distilled soju is traditional soju. Distilled soju, which is colorless and high in alcohol, is made by boiling grain or sweet potato liquor, and unlike diluted soju, it has a cleaner, smoother mouthfeel. Made entirely from yeast, water, and rice without any artificial sweeteners, traditional soju captures the essence of what the Joseon Dynasty royal family enjoyed.
With Gyeongbokgung Soju
That's Gyeongbokgung Soju exactly. A local specialty of Seoul, this traditional Korean distilled soju recreates the original recipe. Using 100% Korean premium rice, you can enjoy the unique aroma and flavor of the grain with a smooth, clean taste. greenear wanted to present the tradition and soul of this spirit in a way that reflects our appreciation for nature, which is an important factor in determining the flavor of liquor.
So we organized an experience where you can taste our soju aged in four different oak barrels, full of breeze and warmth, to give you a sense of nature's freshness, and the depth of flavor that only comes from long fermentation and aging. I remember one participant who brought her young child with her. The mother's comment that she would give it to her child to drink when they came of age in 10 years' time reminded me of the emotion of waiting.
