A Night Counting Stars, Midnight Concert in a Closed Bookstore
" I visited straight from work, and the cello music echoing through the closed bookstore just melted away all my day's fatigue. It was a magical night, offering deep comfort along with the lovely scent of books. I came with my mom, and she truly loved it. Next time, I'd like to come with my husband! " Participant Kim* |
" The description of the classical performance as 'bittersweet chocolate' was perfectly accurate. I never imagined a familiar department store could transform into such a mystical place. I enjoyed browsing books while listening to the music and truly savored this rare moment of leisure:) I'm already looking forward to the next performance " Participant Kang** |

Busan • Kyobo Bookstore Busan Branch • Classical Concert

During the Korean War,
many people came down to Busan as refugees,
and among them were artists.
They settled in Gwangbok-dong and
continued their artistic endeavors.
In the 1950s and 1960s,
Nampo-dong became a central hub for the arts,
where artistic passion truly bloomed.
To shed light on Busan's artistic history
and revive the sentiment of that era,
we have partnered with Kyobo Bookstore,
today's treasure trove of knowledge,
to present a classical concert that graces the night sky.

| Episode #1 Artists |

Lee - Hyogwon
I am Lee Hyo-kwon, a flutist active in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions. When I perform, I truly feel alive, and I find profound satisfaction whenever I see the audience moved and delighted by my music. It's an immense privilege to bring joy and emotion to people's hearts with such a small instrument, and I always approach each performance with a deep sense of gratitude.

" It is always my sincere hope that through my music, audiences can experience a profound sense of liberation, moving beyond mere relaxation for their mind and body. "

Kim - Myeongbok
I am Kim Myung-bok, a viola player. I first encountered the violin in elementary school and, after majoring in it for a long time, embarked on a path in music.
Then, one day, I found myself deeply captivated by the unique charm of the viola. Rather than always taking the forefront in an ensemble, it plays the role of a harmonizer between high and low registers, profoundly influencing the overall sound color of the team. Drawn by the distinct allure of this mid-range instrument, which quietly asserts its presence unlike the sharp tone of the violin, I transitioned to becoming a viola player and have steadily pursued this path ever since.

" I always keep in mind my responsibility to be a performer who can make an even more positive impact on our society. "

Bak - Jeonghyeon
Hello, I am Park Jeong-hyun, a classical guitarist.
The guitar is an instrument cradled close to the heart, where sound is crafted directly by the fingertips. This intimate connection makes me acutely sensitive to even the subtlest daily variations in my right-hand touch. Musically, I endeavor to deeply analyze the harmony and articulation that best suits each piece's theme. Yet, once on stage, I strive to set all analysis aside and immerse myself completely in the melody and the spontaneous feeling of that very moment.

" I wish to convey a gentle sound, like the ease of a weekend, allowing for a moment to catch one's breath amidst the rush of daily life. "

Lee - Seul
I am Lee Seul, a cellist and planner actively involved in various performances. I founded LesBois Ensemble with the aim of challenging the conservative atmosphere and prejudices within the classical music market, all while maintaining the integrity and purity of classical music. Our goal is to connect with audiences through fresh perspectives and experimental approaches, and LesBois Ensemble serves as a platform for these diverse endeavors.
Just as life encompasses joy, sorrow, anger, and pleasure, I don't believe music should only evoke positive or beautiful emotions. Although we may be strangers in the concert hall, I hope that during a performance, the musician acts as a storyteller and the audience as a listener, using music and instruments simply as tools to share emotions and engage in a meaningful conversation.

I hope these moments become a profound connection, where we share the full spectrum of emotions – joy, sorrow, anger, and pleasure – through music, responding and understanding each other through our gaze.
| Episode #2 Space |

A Space Where Anyone Can Touch and Read Books
Located in the heart of Busan's Haeundae Centum City, Kyobo Bookstore Centum City is more than just a bookstore; it's a vibrant cultural complex. Spanning approximately 1,650 square meters on the 7th floor of Lotte Department Store Centum City, it proudly offers over 80,000 titles and 100,000 books, alongside a diverse selection of music albums and stationery.
This inviting space is characterized by its expansive, wood-toned bookshelves and carefully designed lighting, engineered to create an ideal environment for immersive reading. As a true cultural hub within Busan's dynamic Centum City, Kyobo Bookstore Centum City serves as a welcoming crossroads where knowledge and personal tastes beautifully converge.
| Episode #3 LesBois Ensemble |

An Ensemble That Cherishes Deep Connection with the Audience
LesBois Ensemble is comprised of musicians from Busan who, after completing professional music education at prestigious institutions both domestically and abroad, reunited in Busan with a shared vision. With its distinctive quartet lineup of flute, viola, cello, and classical guitar, LesBois Ensemble presents a unique musical color, truly one-of-a-kind in the Busan region.
While firmly rooted in classical traditions, the ensemble aspires to transcend various artistic genres, aiming for deep connection with audiences regardless of time or place. Through their experimental and innovative endeavors, LesBois Ensemble strives to deliver truly novel musical experiences.
