Introduction

I'm Yoonjin Lee, a "butler of plants" who runs a "plant shop" that works with plants.

I opened the gardening studio 'Plant Shop' to share with many people the small happiness and fulfillment that comes from caring for plants, and the various emotions and experiences that become more diverse from moment to moment. I plan and run various classes and contents using plants and sell various pet plants to make plants more accessible to people who think of them as difficult and to show them the joy of having plants in their daily lives.

What to expect while doing this

I feel proud every time I get a call from someone who was intimidated by plants, but now has the confidence to grow healthy plants.

I'd get calls from people who were always killing their plants, and they'd tell me with pride that they'd nurtured their plants back to health, that they'd bloomed again when the seasons changed and the year turned, that the plants that were no longer growing or dying were putting out new leaves.

I feel as proud as my students and customers, and it makes me want to learn more about plants and teach them better.

Interview

Q. What are some of your most memorable places and experiences in nature in Korea?

I can't pinpoint a specific place, but I'm guessing it's a mountain..

Even before I started working with plants, I always thought of mountains as "places that tell a lot of stories," but now that I'm working with plants, I think the mountains I encounter have more than stories to tell.

It's always there, but isn't nature itself the way it changes with the seasons and the ecosystems that cycle within it?

It's interesting to me that the mountains I visit in different seasons seem to have a different story and look for me each time.

There's something so 'therapeutic' about picking the same spot every time you climb a mountain and just sitting still and taking in your surroundings!

Q.  What does nature mean to you?

I think of nature as everything that surrounds us.

As the word "natural" suggests, it's not something that stands out or stands out in any particular way, but rather something that encompasses everything around it.

It makes me who I am, and I'm a part of it, and it's a symbiotic relationship.

Q. What do you want people to take away from the experience and healing you provide?

I hope you find time to take care of yourself as well as the many ways to keep your plants healthy.

We are all different and life is all about creating harmony, so why shouldn't we all be the same?

I hope you can find yourself in harmony with yourself, others, and whatever else you are, recognizing that being different is not wrong, it's just different, and it's your "personality," and that you can find healing in the process.

It would be a great achievement to learn how to care for plants through hands-on experience, become more confident with plants, and even level up as a chef!
